The city of Barcelonnette is located in the southern region in the heart of the Ubaye valley and benefits from exceptional sunshine equivalent to that of the city of Marseille.
On the road to the Grandes Alpes between Lake Geneva and the Mediterranean, the Ubaye valley opens towards Marseille (2h30 from Aix-en-Provence TVG station and Marseille-Provence airport), Nice (at 2h30 from the airport in summer), Grenoble and Cuneo (Italy).
Barcelonnette is at the foot of one of the most beautiful and wild national French natural parks, the Mercantour National Park, which has more than 2,000 different species of flora. The fauna is also very rich there and chamois, ibexes, mouflons and deer are among the most emblematic animals.
It is a region of pastoralism where many sheep breeders lead their herd in transhumance.
